“The Moment Before the Spotlight”

GREEN ROOM draws inspiration from the backstage lounge where performers gather before stepping onto the stage.

Some compose their nerves, while others prepare themselves for the moment when they will shine brightest. The project began by translating this “time before the stage” into the atmosphere and spatial flow of the interior. Inspired by the moment a spotlight illuminates a performer, the design centers on the movement of light and the sculptural tension created by intersecting planes. At the entrance to the shampoo area and around the central double-sided styling station, contrasting planes intersect to create a structure that draws the gaze toward a single focal point. This spatial composition evokes the moment when stage lights converge upon one performer. Rather than relying on decorative gestures, the space focuses on contrasts between light and shadow, density and openness. Indirect lighting flows across restrained monochromatic materials, creating an atmosphere that is both calm and immersive. The darkened shampoo zone, in particular, is conceived as a place of pause—like a backstage room where one can briefly step away from the stage, breathe, and unwind. GREEN ROOM is a space that holds the quiet moments spent preparing for one’s own stage.

GREEN ROOM은 무대에 오르기 전 배우들이 머무는 대기실에서 착안한 공간이다.

누군가는 긴장을 가다듬고, 누군가는 자신을 정돈하며 가장 빛나는 순간을 준비한다. 이번 프로젝트는 이러한 ‘무대 이전의 시간’을 공간의 분위기와 흐름 안에 담아내는 것에서 시작되었다. 디자인은 스포트라이트가 인물을 비추는 장면을 모티브로, 빛이 스쳐 지나가는 흐름과 긴장감 있는 면의 조형을 중심으로 구성하였다. 샴푸실 입구와 중앙 양면 경대는 서로 다른 면이 교차하며 하나의 시선이 집중되는 구조로 계획되었으며, 이는 무대 위 조명이 한 인물을 향해 모이는 순간을 공간적으로 표현한다. 전체 공간은 화려한 장식보다 빛과 그림자, 밀도와 여백의 대비에 집중하였다. 절제된 모노톤의 재료 위로 흐르는 간접조명은 공간 전체에 차분하면서도 몰입감 있는 분위기를 만들어낸다. 특히 어둡게 계획된 샴푸존은 무대 뒤 잠시 숨을 고르는 대기 공간처럼, 고객이 감각적으로 이완될 수 있는 장면으로 완성하였다.
